Sir Henry

Viceroy did not seem to love his old name, so he has become Henry! He prefers to be called SIR Henry though.
I think he’s adjusting well! He’s become increasingly confident. Some might even say bossy! But we’ll go with confident. He has a pillow and blanket that are his particular favorites, and he likes to move them himself to his various beds, cushions and crates to nap throughout the day (or into the bedroom and right next to where I am sleeping at night, haha).
He’s made BEST friends with my doormen, and he loves visiting my parents for the holidays, or when they come into the city to see us. He is not great at being home alone, so while we work with a trainer on that and a few other things, he has an absolute army of friends who he loves who will come and play with him for a few hours, which he loves! He likes to get everyone settled where he can see them, be the center of attention and get everyone to pet him, and then take a nice nap in the middle of the room.
He’s a big fan of walks and the park, and he loves the snow. It’s so cold out this week I can’t take him out as long as we normally do and he gets annoyed with me when it’s time to go inside.
He was having some resource guarding issues at the shelter, as well as not tolerating being picked up, so we’ve been working with a trainer, and he’s making a lot of progress. He’s super smart, especially when a treat is on the line, and has done a great job learning tricks, and getting really good at commands. We train twice a day, and he’s doing great.
He’s honestly so smart and funny and such a great dog. I feel very lucky that we are together now, so thank you so much.
He is pretty quick to grab any and all street garbage out on a walk and make it into a snack, so we have gone to the vet because he ate a whole bagel a child dropped right in front of him. But beyond that, no health issues clean bill of health! (And the only eating issue we have is that there will NEVER be enough treats, he is super food motivated and would eat entire bags at a time if he could) He is maybe the fastest breakfast and dinner eater in the world.
