Mr. Beans, Sassy, & Guthrie

Aladdin, Ariel, & Stitch are now Mr. Beans, Sassy, and Guthrie, respectively.

Mr. Beans and Sassy have chosen to write their own updates, as opposed to leaving it to their adopters to do so.

First, from Mr. Beans:

“Hi – my name is Mr. Beans, otherwise known as Beansie, Beanser and Beanable.

First off, I want to report that I am doing great with my new owners in South Glastonbury, CT. They have a big house with lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and sunny spots where I like to nap throughout the day. The food is generally good – I get 3 meaty meals a day, plus some dry kitten food, which is my favorite. Best of all, I was adopted with my birth sister, Sassy, so we are the very best of friends and run around together most of the day and, mostly, cuddle together at night.

And this is also a fun thing. When we were adopted, we were joined in our adoption by a grown up kitty whose name was Stitch at Animal Haven, but is now called Guthrie, after Woody Guthrie. He is part Siamese and so he is a quite noisy singer! When we first came home, we didn’t see Guthrie at all for the first month because we needed to get our shots first. But even after that, Guthrie was so shy that he hardly ever came out to say hello. I am glad to say that now, after several months together, all 3 of us hang out together, play together, and sometimes Sassy and I get to sneak some of Guthrie’s big boy food!

One thing you should know about me is that I am quite different from the other kitties. I like to think that I’m the most elegant, and the most affectionate one. I am a very long cat and like to stretch out in a big arc – often with my legs in the air – when I’m napping in the afternoon. I’m also so long that I no longer really fit in the top bed of our cat tree. But fortunately there’s a bigger sleeping nook just below that’s just my size. Finally, I am extremely soft with longish black hair and a soft, puffy tail. My owners love to pat me, and I love to be patted as well – I am a very affectionate cat and always ready to purr, so much so that I’ve become known as a feline golden retriever!“

And finally, Sassy’s account:

“Hi – my name is Sassy, otherwise known Miss Sassy and Sassafras.

My brother, Mr. Beans, already wrote you a letter with news about our new home, but I wanted to fill you in on a few things he didn’t mention.

As you know, I was adopted with my birth brother, Mr. Beans, so we are the very best of friends and run around together most of the day and, mostly, cuddle together at night. But on the same day we came to our new home, we were joined by our older cousin, Guthrie, who hangs out with us most of the time now. So now we are a family of three cats – and though we are all quite different, we get along pretty well.

Although we all came home together, we didn’t see Guthrie at all for the first month because we needed to get our feline lukemia shots up to date first. Beans and I have always been together day and night, so we are super close, but Guthrie was a stranger when we first met him. I actually hissed at him the first day – which I am a little ashamed of – but we’ve all become friends now. I especially like to chase around with Guthrie since he is both fun and a little shy. We are also both brownish cats, so I feel like he’s my older brother.

One thing you should know is that I was the runt of the litter, but I was a pushy little cat which helped me get plenty of my mother’s milk, and I still am a little pushy when it comes to food. My brother Mr. Beans is very patient with me at mealtimes, and let’s me eat from his bowl sometimes too. I think he knows that I worry about being left out, and so cuts me a lot of slack – he’s a great brother and I love him to pieces. Also, we spend almost every minute of the day with each other, running around like twins and often sleeping wrapped up in each other’s arms.”
