Ash

Ash is great! I shortened her name, so she’s just Ash now. She settled into life at home super fast and I swear she claimed the house as her kingdom within a few hours. Ash loves her window hammock, sleeping at the foot of my bed, and is super energetic when toys are involved! She is an only child, since she is not a plays-nice-with-others kind of cat, but she is affectionate enough for three cats all in one body. I think the funniest story recently is her new favorite toy which is a stuffed armadillo (originally a dog chew toy) that I won in a raffle at a conference. Any time I hold it up in front of her she’ll grab ahold of it and walk around, nearly tripping over in dragging between her legs! The face she makes carrying it around is hysterical, so it’s been a great source of entertainment for both of us! Also, she’s the only cat I’ve seen that plops herself right in front of the door anytime a person is coming in, and my roommate has said she knows if I’m home already based on how loud Ash is when she’s coming down the hallway on her way back from work. I am really grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at Animal Haven (since January 2025) and that I met Ash, because she is a bright spot in my day ever since I brought her home!
